Grade II listed 17th century timber framed building that has been sympathetically extended

How to get there from Pettaugh:   West out of Pettaugh on the A1120, through Stonham Aspal, turn left and down the A140 to the A14 roundabout and back up the A140 about a mile and it’s on the left — sharp turn in off the A140!   About 6 miles from Pettaugh.

They say:

“Refurbished to a high standard, this pub still retains many original features in two small front rooms, whilst a "Suffolk Barn" style extension hosts a modern bar and restaurant. Outside the large garden also provides a children's play area. Disabled toilet and baby changing facilities.

The building is thought to date from early 17th century, with early 19th century extensions.”   (CAMRA)

"The food was great and well served and presented. My girlfriend was really happy that we spent our Valentine’s Day at this restaurant and I bet it was one of many visits to such a friendly and lovely place, as my girlfriend said. Best regards from both of us to all members of staff and especially to David and Olga. From C. Kent & M. Taylor"(PubUtopia)

"we finished work and went to the highwayman and we were very pleased with the beer and the atmosphere but nothing prepared us for the food that was to follow outstanding does not do the quality of the food justice. It was all we could talk about the next day in work. All I can say is that my taste buds were revelling in an orgy of delight. A must for all food lovers" From Phillip Jones   August 2011

We say:

David and Olga always provide a friendly welcome, a good choice of wines and beers, including Suffolk-brewed real ales, and excellent food.  Olga's menu is always interesting, with lots of choice, and the food is always freshly prepared and delicious!  We've eaten here many times and have never been disappointed -- we even organised a 60th birthday party for 40 downstairs in The Highwayman's vaults, which was excellent!
One of our favourite places to eat and drink -- we'll keep coming back!"
